Service · New connections
New meter connections — from application to first meter read.
New build, refurb or additional supply — we manage the DNO/GT application, meter installation and first supply contract as a single package.
Electricity — DNO connection and metering
Your Distribution Network Operator owns the wires up to your meter and issues the quote for a new connection. We prepare the application — load schedule, single-line diagram, connection date — submit it, chase acceptance and coordinate with your electrical contractor for the connection date. Once the DNO's work is complete, we arrange the meter install with a MOP and register the MPAN.
Gas — the same pattern, different players
Gas connections go through your local Gas Transporter (Cadent, SGN, NGN or Wales & West). The steps mirror electricity: quote, acceptance, install date, then meter fit under a shipper agreement. Load calculations for commercial gas need to include worst-case simultaneous demand across all appliances — this is where under-sized connections usually come from.
Typical timeline
- Weeks 1–2. Load design, application pack prepared.
- Weeks 3–6. DNO/GT quote returned, acceptance signed.
- Weeks 6–16. Network reinforcement works (highly site-dependent).
- Weeks 16–20. Meter install, MPAN/MPRN issued.
- Go-live. Supply contract activates from meter energisation.
Getting the first contract right
A new MPAN or MPRN goes live on the meter installer's default supplier — always at deemed rates. We line up a supply contract so it's ready to take over the moment the meter is energised, protecting you from the first billing cycle onward.
