We take your business details and consumption data, request live quotes from the UK's major commercial suppliers, and shortlist the best deals. You choose the one you want and we handle the switch.

Yes. We're paid by the supplier via a small commission built into the unit rate. We disclose this upfront and can show you our exact uplift on request. You pay Search4Energy nothing directly.

Via a per-kWh uplift on the unit rate — typically fractions of a penny. It's built into the contract you sign with the supplier. The alternative to this model would be an upfront fee to us, which most businesses prefer to avoid.

An LOA is a signed permission that lets us talk to suppliers and industry databases on your behalf — request your MPAN/MPRN, usage history, and quotes. It doesn't commit you to switching; it just unlocks the market.

MPAN is your electricity supply's 13-digit ID (bottom row of a grid on your bill). MPRN is your gas supply's 6–10 digit ID. If you can't find them, don't worry — we can pull them from the national databases with just your postcode and an LOA.

You can lock a new contract 1–6 months before your current one ends. This is the renewal window. Suppliers hold the rate for you between signing and go-live.

If your contract ends without a new one in place (out-of-contract) or you move into premises without switching (deemed), you're on a supplier's most expensive rate — commonly 40–120% above a negotiated deal. They're punitive because they exist to push you to sign a proper contract.

Fixed locks your unit rate for the term (12–48 months) — predictable and good for most SMEs. Flexible tracks wholesale movements and suits larger consumers with active energy management. We'll tell you which fits your business honestly.

Not immediately (unless there's a supplier fault or contract breach). But we sign your next contract in your renewal window so you never overrun onto deemed rates.

You inherit the previous occupier's supplier on a deemed rate until you actively switch. We handle the Change of Tenancy paperwork and get you onto a proper commercial contract as fast as legally possible.

Yes. The English business water market has been open since April 2017. If you spend more than about £5k a year on water, switching retailer commonly saves 3–7% before efficiency measures.

For sites with peak demand over 100kW, HH meters record consumption every 30 minutes and enable more accurate supplier pricing. Since the P272 reform, more medium-sized businesses now fall into HH settlement.

In most cases, no — commercial energy contracts are not covered by the same cooling-off rights as domestic contracts. That's why it matters to compare and think before signing, which is exactly what we're paid to help you do.
