Why we exist
UK business energy is a market that rewards attention and punishes the rest. Miss your renewal window and you're on out-of-contract rates 40–100% above what you'd have negotiated. Take on a new site without a contract and you're on deemed rates from day one. Sit on a rolled-over contract for a year and you'll spend thousands more than a business that took a single Monday morning to shop the market properly.
Suppliers know this. They rely on inertia — silent renewals, opaque unit rates and the fact that most businesses find energy procurement dull enough to defer. We built Search4Energy to be the opposite: an independent broker that hunts the whole market for the right deal, keeps watching the renewal date long after the ink is dry, and disagrees with the incumbent supplier on your behalf when it matters.
How we work
- Whole-of-market quoting. Every quote goes to 20+ commercial electricity suppliers and 15+ gas suppliers. No preferred supplier, no commission-weighted ranking, no filtered shortlist.
- Transparent commissions. Our uplift on the unit rate is disclosed in writing on every offer. You'll always know exactly what we're paid before you sign anything.
- Named account manager. One person owns your relationship from day one. Not a call-centre queue, not a rotating case worker.
- Renewal watch. We diarise your end date and start the next renewal at month -6. You never drift onto deemed rates on our watch.
- TPI Code of Practice aligned. Third-Party Intermediary standards on fair dealing, disclosure and complaints handling. Ombudsman-referable if we ever get it wrong.
How we're paid
Suppliers pay us via a small per-kWh commission built into the unit rate on the contract you sign. It's typically a fraction of a penny. You pay Search4Energy nothing directly, ever — no retainer, no consultancy fee, no fee for switching. The alternative model, common with larger consultancies, is a flat annual fee paid by you. Most businesses prefer the commission model because it's easier to compare against sticking with their incumbent.
What we won't do
- Cold-call you off a mailing list.
- Sign a contract on your behalf without you seeing every rate and every fee first.
- Hide commission or bury it in "administration charges".
- Push you toward a supplier because they pay us more.
